The date is set, December 8th 2013.This is my next Ironman. One full year to prepare myself for a full day of excitement, nervousness and pain! The last several years I have fallen a bit short of crossing the finish line! Last year I came down with pneumonia just 2 weeks prior to Ironman! WTH? This seems to be a pattern I can not seem to break out of. My last 10 years have been riddled with injuries and illness! Ironman training is hard on your body, but at 275 it is way too much stress for your body to handle, even if you are Ironjim! This year needs to be different.
To have different results, you need different actions. I know this is a catchy quote but the truth is I'll be 48 soon and I have been dealt with weight issues for a decade and it is time to train smarter, not just more!
I will share with you my daily food intake, training plan, research, etc. Thanks for following me!!

3 Months to Vineman Ironman!

Training is going very well! I feel I am in a very good place right now! With 88 days to go till Ironman, I am really trying to up my training to accommodate the distances without getting injured or sick. This seems to be the hard part for me. When I am feeling good, I go full speed ahead, then my body rebels and causes me to take a week or so off, so I am really trying not to let this happen again. I know the race, I have done it before and I know what it requires! Last year I couldn't finish because of extreme foot pain during the marathon and I do not want this to be my fate again this year!

The race is just shy of 13 week away. I will take a 2 week taper so I have 11 weeks of available training left. Scary when I see it written down! I train at least 6 days a week. I am still taking off one full day a week although this will soon change to 1 day rest every 9-10 days. During the week  I swim masters M,W, & F, run 3-4 days and bike 3-4 days. Saturday is long run and Sunday is long ride! I just did a 14 mile run Saturday! I will ramp up my long runs like 14, 16, 18, 12, 18, 22, 18, 12, 18, 12, 8. Running is a lot of stress on the body and I have to follow it up on Sunday with a ride. This Sunday I only did 40 miles. It was hilly, but that will be my shortest long ride I do for the next 13 weeks! I will ramp my long rides up like 70, 80, 90, 60, 100, 110, 60, 100, 115, 70 50.
